She smiles, She laughs, she rolls over (sometimes), She loves her mommy and daddy, She naps for an hour or so, and She goes to sleep at a regular time and wakes up after a good sleep. What more could we ask for?
We used a new oil on her head to help it from becoming too dry last night. It stinks. Really bad. Like wet dog and sweat socks. poor kid. Needless to say we won’t be using that one anymore.

The sleep schedule is going well. Loa generally goes down pretty quickly when we get her in for naps or sleep at night. But then there are also the times when she is so tired that she doesn’t go to sleep right away.
When she is really tired, Loa looks like this:

When she is not tired and actually sleeps, she wakes up and looks like this:

Obviously, we prefer the later of the two, but we’ll take her as she is.

That’ right, we are trying to do a sleep schedule with Loa. You laugh now, but we’ll see who’s laughing when she finally goes to sleep. Yeah, she hasn’t slept very much during the day, but she falls asleep at night for a little longer. But that’s okay, because who wouldn’t want to hang out with this little girl:

We got this as a gift from the baby shower. I (Ron) am not ashamed to say that I wear this around with Loa in it. It knocks her out within five minutes. She can be screaming bloody murder, and I put her in this – Hello snoozeville. I wish it could be a little more manly, but oh well. Anything for my girl and my sanity.

Well, Loa has been here for almost a month now. She left the hospital weighing 5 lbs. 11 oz. and two weeks later she was 7 lbs 1.5 oz. Needless to say she likes to eat.
She had jaundice and was forced to sleep in her bassinet with a light underneath her. She looked like she was in a rave with a black light shining underneath her. She never really slept, but thankfully the jaundice went away.
Right now Loa likes to look around a lot and see lights (She liked the lights from the Christmas tree when it was up). She likes to hold things in her hand and lifting her head very high off of our shoulders. She likes to sit in her bouncy chair while her dad plays guitar for her, but she also gets bored of this pretty quickly. She also enjoys car rides while doing her best impersonation of a pterodactyl screeching.
This is about it, but what do you expect? She’s not even a month old! Until next time, here are some pictures of her that Cynthia and I love.

My Name Is Loa Maile Pai. It means “the Long Vine”. For me it is a reminder that I come from and am a part of something much bigger than myself in both family and spirituality. I was born two weeks early on Dec 16th, 2008 in Bellingham, WA at 3:29 p.m. I came out at 6 lbs and 19.5 inches. Here I am world! I made it in one piece!

Well, mommy’s platelet count is down. So down, in fact, that she may have to be put on some sort of steroids to even it out. She may also not have the option of an epidural for labor.
I’m doing great though! I keep moving around in my mommy’s belly. Daddy is always amazed by my moving and stretching mommy’s belly. He says it looks like a shark moving in the water.
Only 2 months until I show up!!! Dec. 31st is the due date, but daddy wants me out sooner for the tax break before the year is over.

In about three months, I’ll be showing up. The other day my mom had a Blizzard from Dairy Queen. It was delicious! I was jumping all around in here! Hope all is well…

Here we are at week 28-ish and things are going swimmingly, literally. As my mommy was sitting last night, I began doing somersaults in her belly. She laughed so loudly, but it was quite strange for her. My question is this: How else will they know that I’m doing alright?
Mommy and Daddy have another appointment at the end of October to check up on me, and before that, Mommy has to go in to get a test on her blood count to check her thyroid. She’s doing good, but there may be a chance that I may come out in a natural birth and mommy gets no epidural. Sounds good to me, but not so much for her.
Daddy will be posting pictures soon, so click the orange thing on the bottom to keep updated or just keep checking in!
